LOS FIORDOS was founded in 1989 when AGROSUPER envisioned a profitable opportunity to enter the export market by taking advantage of their experience as mass production agents for years. Los Fiordos' fish-breeding (pisciculture) and production facilities are located at the Puyuhuapi Cannal, in the 11th Region, and its processing plant is located in the city of Quellón, on the Big Island of Chiloé.
The company produces, processes, and markets three different varieties of Salmon, they are: coho salmon, trout salmon, and as of 1999, atlantic salmon. The production of atlantic salmon aims at the United States market, in the first place.
PESQUERA LOS FIORDOS markets all of its products under the brand name: Super Salmon, and their most predominant destinations are the United States, and Japan. LOS FIORDOS has set an expansion plan to produce 32 thousand gross tons in 2003, and to export not only to the United States, and Japan, but also to Europe, Latin America, Central America, and Southeast Asia. Also, developing an increase in sales within its own domestic market is among its goals. So to achieve its goal, a processing plant was built in Quellon.
This plant has included leading technology to its processing which allows their products to meet the highest quality standards for the industry. These features enable Los Fiordos to develop the type of products each market and client demand. Along with the afore mentioned advances, as of 2001, Los Fiordos has set efforts into 2 major pisciculture projects related to the development of fish primary states.
